On last years Pilgrimage, we were accompanied by Bridget Spinks who was producing a story for ABC Radio National. The recordings and interviews she conducted on pilgrimage with us, was for the Encounter series and her program is a look at the theology, history and culture of Christian pilgrimage. Bridget would like to pass on her thanks to all of you for your help last year with the program.
The program is called “Walking the Faith: On the Road with the Christus Rex Pilgrims” and it was broadcast on Encounter on ABC Radio National during March 2010. Although the story has already aired, you can still listen to it on-line via the ABC website HERE, where there is the audio of the story, a transcript and a collection of photographs to check out as well.
Well done, Bridget, on a fantastic feature!
In 2008 a first time pilgrim and student journalist from Sydney created an online documentary focussing on the Christus Rex pilgrimage.
Australian Camino – a documentary (2008) by Bridget Spinks is a modern look into an ancient tradition.
In this half-hour documentary divided into 10 bite-size packages, you’ll find out about how the pilgrimage came about and how much it has changed since the first pilgrims walked in 1991.
Experience each day with Bridget. Meet the pilgrims who come and discover what motivates people to make it all the way.
Go behind the scenes of Australian Camino – read the story published in Catholic Western Australian newspaper, The Record - Student documentarian pulls pilgrimage into focus.
Australian Camino came Runner Up for Best Online Journalism in the UTS Journalism Awards 2009.
Check out Australian Camino HERE.
Registrations for the 2009 pilgrimage open in August.
