This route takes us from one great cathedral – St. Patricks, Ballarat – to another splendid cathedral – Sacred Heart, Bendigo. Notre-Dame de Chrétienté (Chartres) Pilgrimage History
Since Roman times Chartres has attracted pilgrims from all walks of life, including all the Kings of France.
The Paris – Chartres Pilgrimage is organized by the association Notre-Dame de Chrétienté and is a 100 kilometre walk held on the feast of Pentecost. The Pilgrimage commences at Notre-Dame Cathedral, Paris, for prayers and concludes, three days later, with a glorious Solemn Pontifical Mass in the stunning Notre-Dame Cathedral of Chartres. Encouraged by His Holiness, John Paul II, and now Benedict XVI, as well as numerous bishops, up to 15,000 pilgrims take part annually, including a large number of international visitors.
